Strategies to Improve Your Workplace at the Human Resources Seminar
Changing generations in the workforce present new challenges for managers and Human Resources staff. To address these changes, PAMIC has planned an educational seminar to discuss the expectation of Millennials, handling sexual harassment in the workplace, and the Family and Medical Leave Act. Join us for these topics and more at the Human Resources Seminar in Harrisburg on May 9, 2018. This seminar has been approved for 5 CE credits.
"The Expectations of Millennials"
Rod Bourn, Professor, Coordinator of Professional Development at Harford Community College, and Found of Down, Set, Lead
With a generation as large as the Boomers flooding into the workplace, organizations are finding it more difficult to integrate Millennials into their business model, regardless of past success. Going far beyond a “Generations in the Workplace” program, this presentation offers pointed insight based on interviews of over 100 Millennials, as well as regional business leaders and their efforts to harness their energies, talents and interests.
"#MeToo and You: Preventing and Dealing with Sexual Harassment in Your Workplace" & "Family and Medical Leave Act: Handling Tough Issues"
Catherine Walters, Esq., Saul Ewing Arnstein & Lehr
The Human Resources Seminar will feature two presentations from Catherine. First, she will explore the legal framework for preventing harassment, as well as recognizing and addressing harassment to minimize liability. Attendees will learn about the EEOC’s updated approach to creating respectful workplaces and new approaches to providing training for your workforce.
In her second session, Walters will cover the Family and Medical Leave Act. This program will discuss how to navigate some tough issues encountered by PAMIC employers, such as intermittent leave, the interplay among the FMLA, Americans with Disabilities Act and Workers’ Compensation Law, employee fraud and knowing when and how to seek additional medical certifications.
The Human Resources Seminar features a full day of education. To view the full listing of presenters and topics check out our event agenda.
