The Art of Insurance Loss Communication

in the digital age: Free Webinar via PAMIC Live

     Thursday, May 23, 2019 @ 2:00-3:00pm Eastern

Presented by: Andrew Siffert, Vice President & Senior Meteorologist, Catastrophe Analytics, BMS Re US

How does today’s insurance industry analysis effectively analyze and communicate the scope of catastrophe events in the modern age of real-time, digital social media? With the magnitude of recent U.S. losses occurring in the smart phone era, social media is changing catastrophe response and analysts are grappling with the benefits and risks of using Facebook, Twitter, and other social media during times of catastrophes. Analysts were bombarded with information from so many sources, mislead by headlines, influenced by fake sound bites, and subjected to thousands of photos and videos, some in real-time, which shaped the perception of the events and their significance. This session discusses a new playbook that can help today’s analyst keep a level head, find the facts, make smart assumptions, and effectively communicate the right message to their management teams to drive the right response to the event for their firm.

    About the Speaker

Andrew Siffert is an  Vice President and Senior Meteorologist within BMS Re US Catastrophe Analytics team.  He works closely with clients to help them manage their weather related risks by adding value through catastrophe response, catastrophe modeling, product development and scientific research and education.  He has 17 years of industry experience having worked in the energy and insurance industry focusing his meteorological knowledge on helping companies manage their weather risks.
